Good Design: Coffee Cup & Sandwich Plate

My grandmother handed these down to me… they’re a combination of coffee cup and cookie plate, with an indentation that makes it easy and pleasant to hold in one hand.  (There is a little rim under the coffee cup, to hold it in place, just like a saucer has).

You know that problem you have, when you want to circulate, and you want to have your coffee?  Problem solved.

Clever and pretty = good design.

* If I can find good design on a regular basis, this will be a regular blog post.

Brilliant. And so pretty! I remember finding an art-deco sandwich plate that worked on a similar principle: palm-of-the-hand curves, sides to prevent sandwiches wobbling off, ample space like a tray. Was brilliant. Think my Dad owns it now.

Might take a bit longer than that, but it’s a good plan. 🙂 As I said, I’m going to be taking this as a part of the theme of this blog and going for it. 😀

Hey, found a free book on nook (so prob also on kindle) about aesthetics, you might like it. “Art in Everyday Life” by the sisters Goldstein. Formatting (being free) is terrible, but good ideas.
